Why and How SD&A’s Goat Canyon Trestle Was Built
February 23, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Beginning in 1926, there were a series of foreboding events and warnings about impending catastrophe in a remote part of the Anza-Borrego Desert, which the San Diego & Arizona Railway ignored. The “Impossible Railroad” curse struck again! In 1932, a massive landslide led to the abandonment of Carrizo Gorge’s Tunnel #15 and subsequent construction of both a new tunnel and the famed and colossal Goat Canyon Trestle. Eye-opening images of construction of the tunnel and trestle will stun and amaze you. Non-Members $12, Members $10, ABDNHA Volunteers $8. Register: www.abdnha.org, or at the Nature Center, or 767-3098.
