Admission –
For those wishing to visit the museum only without a train ride, pricing is as follows:
Infants – Free (under 1)
Children – $5.00 (ages 1-17)
Adults – $10.00 (ages 18+)
Seniors – $9.00 (ages 65+)
Active Military – $9.00 (w/ID)

Admission to the La Mesa Depot Museum is always free. Donations are accepted.

Pacific Southwest Railway Museum Association’s main facility is the Campo Railroad Museum. The Campo Railroad Museum is located in Campo, California, a pleasant fifty-mile drive east of downtown San Diego. Over 100 major pieces of railroad equipment, including steam and diesel locomotives, passenger cars, freight cars and cabooses are on display there.
Driving Directions to Campo Railroad Museum:
From Interstate 8:
- Exit at exit number 51 for Buckman Springs Road (about 45 minutes East of San Diego or 60 minutes West of El Centro)
- Head south on Buckman Springs Road to the end at State Highway 94 (10 miles)
- Turn right onto State Highway 94 for 1.5 miles crossing over the railroad tracks
- After passing over the railroad tracks, make an immediate turn left onto Forrest Gate Road and another immediate left onto Railroad Museum Road and follow the signs into the museum
Estimated total drive time from Downtown San Diego: 1 hour, from El Centro 1.5 hours.
Please allow extra time when driving to the Campo Railroad Museum. Foul weather and traffic can significantly affect your drive time.
Alternatively, you may take State Highway 94 from downtown San Diego. Highway 94 is a two-lane country highway east of Spring Valley, which makes for an interesting scenic drive for those so inclined. Please allow an extra 30 minutes when taking State Highway 94
You should allow about 90 minutes of driving time from downtown San Diego for the first time you make the trip. Please plan on arriving at least 30 minutes before your excursion’s departure time.
La Mesa Depot Museum

The La Mesa Depot Museum is located at the historic depot at La Mesa, CA. The La Mesa Depot is the oldest building still in its original form in La Mesa and is also the only surviving railroad station from the San Diego and Cuyamaca Railway. Come take a look through the ticketing area and telegrapher’s station in the small exhibit area and take a look at the display train parked outside.
